Discount types
In Randio Open Strategies
Every Randio discount is a percentage off the product's price. You set it per distribution, in one of two forms.
Fixed
Every product in the pool gets the same percentage off. Pick any whole number from 0 to 100. Use it when you want one clear offer, or when a distribution exists to push one product at one price.
Range
Each product gets a percentage drawn between a minimum and a maximum, so two customers rarely see the same deal. The minimum must be below the maximum. A second control, Higher discounts, sets how often a draw lands near the top of the range; see Discount ranges.
How a percentage reaches the customer
- A product's percentage is set when the catalog is built and stays until the run ends. The same product can carry a different percentage in another customer's catalog.
- On the catalog page, in the email and in the storefront block, the product card shows the original price, the discounted price and a discount label.
- In the cart and at checkout, a Shopify Function applies that same percentage to the line, up to the offer limit per product set in Settings → Preferences, or the distribution's own Max per product when it has one.
Mixing discounts in one strategy
Each distribution has its own discount, so one strategy can hold several. A common shape is a Guaranteed distribution at a fixed percentage for the products everyone should see, a Chance distribution with a range for variety, and a Limited distribution with the deepest discount for a set number of customers.
Picking a depth
Ready-made strategies take their discount amounts from the average discount on your order lines from the last 60 days, when at least 20 lines carried one; otherwise they scale from 15%. If you build from scratch, the first distribution starts at a fixed 20% you can change.
Start narrower than feels exciting and widen once orders come in. A new strategy with different numbers can be tried in the next run without touching the one that is live.
